27 Activists arrested at the White House April 10, 2011

On Sunday, April 10, 27 human rights activists were arrested in front of the White House when they staged a die-in on the White House sidewalk to call attention to thousands of Latin Americans who were murdered by graduates of the U.S. Army School of the Americas. The die-in followed a march of hundreds of human rights activists to the White House. The march included torture survivors, union workers, educators and students from across the Americas. Marchers carried banners, flags and large puppets, including a 14-foot tall Mother of the Disappeared with them to the White House.

Still on Vacation!

Although we're both behind on our activist duties, I still couldn't face the idea of being anywhere near a city, so we stopped at Lake Berryessa, where we got to see Pereguin Falcons mating while were out on a rented kayak.

Oops! "Irene" ends up in the ditch!

Gerry was trying to find his brother's house and was turning around from a wrong turn when he found himself up off the ground, one set of duals in a ditch and the rig resting (fortunately) on its side trim.  The tow truck driver pulled us out sideways, and there's no apparent damage to the rig, although we're not sure yet.

On Vacation - Finally!

I went pretty literally crazy the other day and had to get out of the city.  We started down Skyline Drive out of San Francisco and ended up at Portolo Park, which is pretty, but still closed for the season - the ranger ran us out, but we still managed to have a picnic.

We had to go to Belmont for a dentist appointment Monday (March 28), but I went crazy again right after the appointment, so my WONDERFUL partner took me to Pt. Reyes.  On Tuesday we got a 12.6 mile hike to the summit of Mt. Wittenberg and down to the ocean and I felt MUCH better!!!
